The Big Bang theory, describing the origin of our universe, is very well established today. We have ample evidence that the universe originated from a hot “singularity,” then expanded and cooled over time. Nevertheless, there is still a big missing piece of the cosmic puzzle: How did the first stars form?! Our speaker, Deepthi Gorthi, is a graduate student at the University of California, Berkeley, working on radio astronomy instrumentation.
A lot of us are curious about meditation because we know how much we hold ourselves back from our true potential. But the problem is, we’re not sure where to start. When someone suggests a meditation practice, a common thought is, “meditation won’t work for me because I can’t focus,” or “I can’t sit there for that long, I have too many thoughts.” Good news is that you’re not alone, most everyone starts there! Because of this common mental block, our experienced meditators decided to put together a small workshop designed to give you the scoop on what to expect and address any questions you may have in regards to meditation. Our meditators have experienced all kinds of benefits from reduced anxiety, resolved health issues and improved relationships to name a few through practicing, but would never be living this new life without taking the first step. That first step is everything. Let’s take the first step together!

Ever wondered who you were in a past life? Do you have an affinity for a particular period in history? What did you do? Where did you live? What was your purpose? Join this fascinating online Past Life Regression Event and uncover hidden memories of your past lives. Wendy, a Board Certified Hypnotherapist, will lead you through a gentle guided meditation, which people in the field call hypnosis. Hypnosis is simply a state of relaxation, similar to a guided meditation. It is designed to help you access your subconscious mind so your memories of past lives can be revealed to you. During hypnosis, many people become aware of scenes or snippets of events of past lives. You might even be able to identify people, a faraway land, or even your occupation. Others simply find that they experience the deepest relaxation ever. When you become deeply relaxed, the window into your subconscious mind becomes more accessible. Your subconscious mind can reveal fascinating information that has meaning to your life today. You will: 1. Learn the facts (and myths) about hypnosis 2. Hear about surprising research into reincarnation 3. Watch a short video of the most famous documented past life case.

The show is The Murder of Gonzago, the same play that Claudius so rudely interrupts in Hamlet. We start with the same action: Lucianus pouring poison into the ear of the sleeping Gonzago, but rather than interrupting at that point, we keep going. Oddly enough, poison in the ear does not turn out to be an effective way of killing someone, but that does not stop Lucianus. He continues to try to murder his uncle, each murder coming from one of the plays: poisoned wine, smothered with a pillow, stabbed through a tapestry, poisoned blades exchanged during a duel… Each murder misses its target, taking out another member of the household. As the bodies pile up a bumbling detective investigates, and a band of gangsters lurks in the shadows. This show is part of the 2020 So Many Shakespeares Festival.

Your favorite (or least-favorite, if you’re a hater) gang of misfit toys are using their time to tackle the bard’s greatest drama – Hamlet. This classic piece of literature is about to get…sketchy. ba dum tiss This show is part of the 2020 So Many Shakespeares Festival.
Hamlet couldn’t possibly get more dramatic…or could it? It couldn’t possibly be funny … or could it? Shakespeare and Telenovelas? A match made in heaven? To believe or not to believe it … that is the question … This show is part of the 2020 So Many Shakespeares Festival.
What happens when a bunch of actors get together on Zoom to try to put on a production of Hamlet? Can Shakespeare even be DONE with a lag? And how about the large personalities involved — it’s hard to grab attention from someone else when you’re not even in the same room as everyone. This show is part of the 2020 So Many Shakespeares Festival.

The Decameron is a collection of novellas that celebrates the human impulse to connect through storytelling in a time of despair and isolation. The book is structured as a collection of 100 tales told by a group of young people sheltering in a secluded villa just outside Florence to escape the epidemic. The tales the group tells each other in The Decameron range from life lessons and tongue-in-cheek commentary, to erotic and tragic love stories. In this virtual play, artists are adapting one story each remotely while being mentored by other Synetic company members and artistic leadership to prepare the work for streaming. Choose your own experience through individual selections, pre-created playlists, or tune in beginning July 10 to experience the work serially over 10 days, in honor of the source material. As we prepare for our 20th Anniversary Season this fall, The Decameron has united Synetic veterans, founding company members, and new performers, ensuring this virtual collaborative work will reflect our 20-year theatrical history that has now spread around the globe.

Everyone has secrets. Kids. Parents. Bosses. Billionaires. Grocery store clerks. Mailmen. ER doctors. How do they differ? How are they the same? Do you share a common secret with others? Some people have many secrets, perhaps both their own and others. Some are silly secrets. Others are deep, dark secrets. Ones they tell their best friends over drinks — others that they tell only a few or maybe even no one. What if you could tell your secrets to a complete stranger? Would you dare? Would you share a serious secret or a funny one? Imagine this stranger as completely nonjudgmental, willing to listen to anything you say. They may be quiet and let you explore the topic on your own or they may ask you provoking questions. Would you explore your secret? Are you willing? Are you daring? Will you risk examining that secret part of yourself? What if the role was reversed? Are you curious about what someone else’s secrets are? Will they be like yours? Will they be vastly different? Are the secrets minor or silly or do the secrets reveal something deep inside? What will you do with that information? Will it make you nervous? Or relieved? Or something else entirely? How do you relate to the secrets they share? In this virtual immersive experience, the choice is yours. Chose to talk to a stranger about your secrets or choose to be the stranger on the phone listening to their secrets. Which one will YOU choose?

Take a virtual tour of the French Impressionism Art Collection found at the National Gallery of Art. Your guide Meghan will point out her favorite Impressionism Artists as she takes you through the different key artists in this dynamic modern art movement. You will enjoy seeing several Claude Monet, post-impressionism, and learn what defines impressionism art. We will start the tour by taking a look at the iconic sculpture Little Dancer before moving into the National Gallery of Art Impressionism Exhibit Hall. The work that emerged from these rogue painters was infused with lightness, energy, informality and authenticity. Why? Because these artists of French Impressionism painted En Plein Air: they went out into the landscapes from which they were working to observe and paint the changing light and colors in real-time. The Impressionism art definition is widely talked about, and it is one of the most popular and beloved art movements to date. The National Gallery of Art has spectacular Impressionism and Post Impressionism artworks that will change the way you understand the Impressionism art definition. We will walk you through the rise and fall of this fabulous art scene by looking at several iconic artists and their work: Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, George Seurat, and Vincent van Gogh.

Euryanthe is a story of jealousy and betrayal. A redheaded ghost haunts a dreamlike landscape where supernatural forces collide with everyday hopes of comfort and security. Layers of deceit and repressed desire motivate jealous lovers travelling in a darkly gothic world. Carl Maria von Weber, an acquaintance of Schubert’s and one of the most influential early Romantic composers, wrote Euryanthe in 1823. The gloriously beautiful score replaces sections of spoken dialogue common to German opera of the time with continuous music. This powerful work left its mark on Richard Wagner’s Lohengrin and later pieces.

Join me for a virtual tour of the Russian capital over Zoom. I will be using 360 panoramic views and exclusive pictures to make you feel like you really are in Moscow! We will see the famous Red Square and St. Basil’s cathedral (in the picture). We will also go inside the Moscow Kremlin and see the crown jewels as well as the famous Faberge eggs. Finally, I will share some Soviet history with you by taking you inside some beautiful metro stations. They are known as underground palaces!
Since we can’t go outside, let’s look within…OUR CLOSETS! Welcome to what I call a Mindful Closet Audit. During this virtual experience, I will guide you on how to not only be present with the clothing that you already own, but also how to mindfully release those pieces that no longer serve the person you have become and would like to be. We will go a step further than Marie Kondo’s process of asking “Does it bring me joy?” to ask the deeper question “Does it fit the (style) story I’d like to tell?” Using my background as a fashion designer, educator and enthusiast, I have crafted a series of exercises that will help reintegrate and reset the relationship between your body, soul and style choices. Together we will create a manageable framework that you can use to consciously design the wardrobe of your dreams. This pandemic has been really scary for all of us, join me and let’s try to find the silver (coat?) lining in this gift of a pause from our regular schedules and uninspired style ruts.

Do you love The Golden Girls? Here is your opportunity to have some fun playing our live Golden Girls trivia game. You will also get to socialize and make other friends from the safety and comfort of your home. Prize will be a Amazon Gift card, free future events and maybe some other goodies. This event will be held in a Zoom Virtual Room. This is a single-player game, not a team game. Each participant will need to access from their own device and have their own registration. You will join the virtual room at the specified time. Prior to starting the game we will virtually introduce you to some of the other participants (if for any reason you are not interested in meeting the other participants, you can opt out of this part). At game time, your host will read off several trivia questions from The Golden Girls. Your goal is to come up with the correct answer to each question and write it down on your paper. Once the round is over (about 6 questions), we will go through the answers and determine which person/people had the highest score for the round. That person/people will get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize at the end of the event. We will play multiple rounds so each time you win a round, you will earn another raffle entry. Your host will virtually introduce you to a few more participants before we move on to the next round (if for any reason you are not interested in meeting the other participants, you can opt out of this part).
Join me for a virtual tour of the Hermitage, one of the most famous museums in the world, located in St. Petersburg, Russia. See the room where Catherine the Great had private parties so secret that even servants were not allowed to attend and where the decor is so stunning you will not want to leave (in the picture). Visit the private rooms of the last Russian tsar, Nicolas II, rooms where he spent time with his beautiful wife Alexandra, rooms visited by Rasputin, and rooms where the famous Princess Anastasia lived. I have some amazing historic photos from that time that I will show during the tour! Learn about some amazing world-class art, such as Da Vinci, Rafael, Rembrandt, Caravaggio, and more. All of this in beautiful palace-worthy interiors designed in the 19th century specially to house this jaw-dropping art. Enjoy an exclusive view of the crown jewels, including Catherine the Great’s diamonds, in the Diamond room (not everyone knows about that amazing space!). Be surrounded with the splendor of gold, marble, granite, malachite, and more gold, because you are in Russia, and our royal family was super wealthy. Have a private showing of a famous clock that you probably wouldn’t see working, even if you were at the Hermitage in real life right now (or really, any other time!)
After celebrating its 25th Anniversary at The Soraya in 2017, Diavolo returns for the 4th engagement — this time as a digital event. This Is Me is a dance film exploring how the current climate of isolation has encouraged us to look within ourselves. We follow the paths of military veterans and first responders as they share what it means to be a true warrior — to be on the front lines — and fight the invisible enemy that all humanity is currently battling. At a time when most have been asked to halt and withdraw, others, like soldiers, are charging forward. This Is Me: Letters From The Front Lines captures the resilience, determination, and hope of the human spirit.
Immerse yourself in the world of sandwiches as you cook, eat, photograph and discuss everything there is to know about an iconic New York sandwich, with the help of a professional sandwich guide! Whether you’re learning to cook for the first time, or you’re a master chef, on this experience you will join fellow sandwich fans as we “cook” a delicious New York sandwich, and master the art of sandwich photography to make your Instagram page “drool-worthy” just like the photos on the @a_man_and_his_sandwich page. As we go along, you will be introduced to the fascinating history of the sandwich and to Alidoro (the famous NY deli whose sandwich we will recreate), and also debate the deep philosophical question “what is a sandwich?”

A portion of ticket sales will go to Huntington Meals and other organizations who are helping Front Line workers with Meals/Support during this Pandemic. Do you love Sex and the City? Here’s your opportunity to have some fun playing our live Sex and the City trivia game. You’ll also get to socialize and make friends from the safety and comfort of your home. The prize will be a Amazon Gift card, plus free tickets to future events and maybe some others. This event will be held in a Zoom Virtual Room, which you access through your computer and webcam, or via your Smart Phone/Tablet. Zoom is super easy to use! How exactly does it work? First, you’ll join the virtual room at the specified time. Prior to starting the game, we will virtually introduce you to some of the other participants (if for any reason you are not interested in meeting the other participants, you can opt out of this part). At game time, your host will read off several trivia questions from Sex and The City. Your goal is to come up with the correct answer to each question and write it down on your paper. Once the round is over (about 6 questions), we’ll go through the answers and determine which person/people had the highest score for the round. That person/people will get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize at the end of the event. We’ll play multiple rounds so each time you win a round, you will earn another raffle entry.

Eliances provides a unique outlet for some of the most influential and intellectual individuals throughout the Valley to foster business relationships. We are not a group, village, networking, mastermind, peer group, peer advisory group, chamber, association, hub or club. Eliances is a destination “Where Entrepreneurs Align™” The community hosts weekly ROUNDtable meetings enabling entrepreneurs and inventors alike to collaborate and help each other with ventures. The ROUNDtable is one of the puzzle pieces of Eliances where action takes place. A Valley CEO explained that “Eliances moves networking from a passive exercise to active engagement. At its core, Eliances is as much about what can one contribute as what can one receive, and fundamentally it’s that balance between give and get that creates true value.” It brings together a “high-level community of hybrid entrepreneurs with resources, influence, skills, contacts and imagination.” There is no other community structured by the implications and operations that comprise Eliances. Eliances operates on what they refer to as the 3G methodology™: Got, Give and Get. Every week, each attendee is given a 60-second window of time in which to pitch their respective G’s. This high pressure scenario allows Eliances members to analyze and optimize the caliber of attendance each week; because regardless an individual’s status, there is no guarantee an invite to the next event.
