Gallatin TN Eclipse Encounter FAQs
What happens when I RSVP on Eventbrite?
An RSVP helps us plan a great event for our guests! This total solar eclipse is an unprecedented event so there are no statistics to help us determine how many people are planning to be at our event. We thank you for your RSVP and look forward to seeing you at the Gallatin TN Eclipse Encounter Event!
What is traffic going to be like in Middle Tennessee on Monday, August 21?
An event of this magnitude in Middle Tennessee has no previous examples of numbers for us to say definitively, but the Tennessee Department of Transportation estimates that an additional 500,000-1.4 million drivers will be utilizing Middle Tennessee roadways the day of the event. Plan accordingly and expect delays on roadways.
Where do I park at?
There is limited parking available at Triple Creek Park, where the Gallatin TN Eclipse Encounter is held. Once the park's lot is filled, no vehicles will be allowed to park inside Triple Creek Park as enforced by local police units. Satellite parking locations will be available and shuttles with transport people to and from Triple Creek Park. The satellite parking map will be released closer to the event. Should I bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on during the event?
Viewing will primarily be on soccer fields, so bring your own lawn chairs and blankets if you plan to sit in the viewing areas. A select number of tents will be available for those who need to temporarily cool off and shade trees surround the park for those who wish to set up chairs away from the sun. Over the past 12 years he has personally conducted that event for sold-out audiences throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia. He teaches that the activities of your subconscious mind must be in alignment with your conscious desires in order for you to succeed. He is known for saying, “The stories in your mind become the stories of your life.” His seminars teach people how to get rid of unwanted stories in their minds and replace them with stories for success!
Steve Schulz is a former school teacher who decided over 20 years ago to look at an opportunity to help supplement his monthly income by at least a couple of hundred dollars a month. That decision to look led Steve into a 20 year career that took him around the world. Steve has built teams of people in excess of a 150,000 people. Over his career Steve has earned 15 + million dollars in the networking profession. Steve recently published his first book titled “Yes. Jordan Adler, Author of the best selling book, Beach Money™, has created a seven figure income in his current company, and has personally inspired thousands of people to achieve remarkable success through network marketing.
More than a book, Beach Money is a lifestyle that Jordan believes everyone can fulfill, and that it's possible for everyone to live the life of their dreams from the beach, or the location of their choice.
"Your biggest breakthrough to creating your Beach Money life is knowing that it is possible for you," says Jordan. "Beach Money will show you what's truly possible and most importantly that you can do it."
Jordan Adler’s successes as both a network marketing expert and a motivational speaker have earned him a top reputation within the industry. He was one of the marketing experts featured in the first book of “The Greatest Networkers in the World” series that tells the inspirational stories behind network marketing’s biggest star players. When asked about the secret to his own success, he often replies “Letting go.” It’s his philosophy that you give your team members what they need to know to be successful and then stand back and watch them soar. However, he is always available to his team when they need support and motivation. This will be a unique opportunity meet him and hear his story, LIVE and in person!

On August 21, 2017 there will be a total solar eclipse along a narrow path across the United States. A total solar eclipse occurs when the new Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth. The event creates fascinating lighting and allows viewers to see the corona of the Sun.
Gallatin, Tennessee will be one of the best spots in the country to view the total eclipse with totality lasting two minutes and forty seconds. Eclipse viewing in the area will be from noon-2 p.m. Totality will occur at 1:27 p.m.
Of course, viewing is dependent on the weather. Overcast skies may make eclipse viewing marginal.
Volunteer State Community College is organizing a free eclipse watching event on our campus in Gallatin. It is open to everyone. We will have educational presentations, live video viewing of the eclipse in other parts of the country, live narration during the totality, and fun science exhibits for kids and adults. The activities will be held outside and also in air-conditioned buildings.
We will have free eclipse viewing glasses available, while supplies last. You want to make sure to use such glasses or devices to view the sun during the partial phases of the eclipse. Viewing the sun directly is dangerous without the proper eyeware. Sunglasses do not block enough light to be safe.
Seating will be primarily open lawn. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs. There will be room for picnicking. We will also have food and beverages for sale. The campus has plenty of bathrooms and heat relief zones (seating areas) in many buildings.
Parking is also free. Buses and RV's are welcome, but there will be no overnight parking, before or after the event. Parking lots open at 8 a.m. Once the lots are full, the campus will be closed to new entrants. Entry is first come, first served. The campus will close at 6pm on the day of the Eclipse. No alcohol will be allowed in vehicles or on campus. There is no smoking on campus. This is designed as a family event. To schedule a group visit with a bus please call 615-230-3570 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
We need to have an idea of how many people will be attending. We ask that people register on this page and let us know how many people will be attending in their group. The ticket that is emailed back to each person signing-up does not guarantee admission. Admission will be first-come, first-served. You don’t need to bring the ticket to the event. The registration is simply for our count of attendees. Registration will be capped at 3500. Once we have reached that number you will have to find another location to visit for the eclipse. Once parking lots are full we will be closing the event to new attendees. Buses that have coordinated with the college ahead of time will be accepted.
Activities thus far: See a scale model of the solar system. Fun eclipse presentations for kids. Make an eclipse viewer out of cardboard. There will also be a program about the eye damage direct solar viewing can cause and some surprising people in history who damaged their eyes by looking directly at the Sun. What does it take to get good pictures of an eclipse? A physics professor visiting from Pennsylvania explains the Coronado Solar Telescope. We'll have fun eclipse presentations for kids, including science songs and demonstrations.
Schedule of events:
Gates open at 8 a.m. Parking is first come-first served. No tickets are required. When the lots are full the campus will be closed to new attendees. Arrive early. There will be bus parking available. However, groups are required to register the total number of attendees at this page and also call the college to ensure bus parking.
The primary event area will be on the Library Lawn in the center of campus. It will be grass seating. People are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. Picnicking and coolers are fine. No alcohol or smoking allowed on campus. There will be several heat relief areas around campus.
8am-10am: The Vol State Cafe will be open for breakfast in the Wood Campus Center
9am-1pm: Events in several venues: science related presentations in the auditorium in Caudill Hall; art and literature and the eclipse in the Wood Campus Center cafeteria; kids hands-on activities and presentations in the Pickel Field House gym. Displays and info on the Library Lawn
8am-1pm: Food and drink will be available for sale at several locations on campus.
1pm-2pm: Narration of the eclipse event. We'll have a science presenter talk about the eclipse and describe the stages. We'll have some quiet time during totality.
The public needs to clear the campus by 6pm.
To schedule a group visit with a bus please call 615-230-3570 or email email@example.com
